Heading Toward a Social Tipping Point in the Danish Food Sector: Climate-Friendly Eating Habits May Spread Faster Than Most People Expect
Just as there are climate tipping points, researchers and practitioners are currently focusing on the fact that there are also social tipping points, where a population can change its attitudes and behavior within a few years. DEMOCRACY X will work systematically to experiment with and promote a key element of the green transition in the food sector that is otherwise often overlooked. Rather than waiting for consumers, the sector can develop new social tools that can help ideas and norms spread among the population by “spreading” from person to person within local communities.
On May 14, we will bring together invited key stakeholders in the National Museum’s beautiful Glass Hall to discuss the question: What does it take to create a social tipping point in the food sector, and who can do what?
Here, the world’s leading researcher on the subject, Professor Tim Lenton, will introduce the research behind it, while Professor Bente Halkier, vice chair of the Climate Council, and Jessica Aschman-Witsel will share their insights, and Claus Meyer will draw parallels to his many years of work to transform Danish food culture.
There are only a few spots left, so if you think you have something special to contribute to the event, please contact project manager Nana Alsted.
