Invitation to a Workshop on Technology in Elderly Care

Help shape the direction of how technology should be used in elder care. Share your perspectives and help develop visions for care that is based on each individual’s needs and life circumstances. Read more about the purpose and target audience here on this page.

The number of older adults is increasing, and at the same time, there is a growing desire for care that is more closely tailored to each individual’s needs, values, and daily life. Person-centered care has become an important ideal in elder care, but it also presents challenges, especially when resources are limited.

Digital technology is often highlighted as part of the solution. Technology can create new opportunities for support, coordination, and flexibility in care. At the same time, technological solutions can also give rise to new problems.

To create sustainable solutions, the relevant stakeholders must become an active part of the dialogue on the use of technology in elder care.

We therefore invite you to participate in a workshop where older adults and their family members, friends, or others who assist them in their daily lives will have the opportunity to discuss these issues together. Using short, fictional stories about technology in elder care as a starting point, participants will share their perspectives and collaboratively formulate visions for how technology should—or should not—be integrated into elder care moving forward.

What can you expect from the day?

The workshop brings together older adults (60+) with long-term care needs and family members, friends, or others who informally participate in their care.

You and your group will be presented with fictional stories that you will work on together. Based on your discussions, you will develop visions for the role you would like technology to play in supporting person-centered care, and the pitfalls you would like to avoid.

You will receive a gift card worth 200 kr. as a thank-you for your participation.

The project behind

Democracy x is a partner in the pan-European research project BUILD. The project aims to develop solutions to create more coherent care that puts people’s needs and preferences at the center. In addition to Denmark, similar workshops are being held in Portugal, the Czech Republic, and Austria. The results will be used to inform the project’s recommendations to policymakers at both the national and European levels.
